Gingerbread houses

***Edited*** For those wishing to make the gumdrop, redhot or popcorn ornaments. Get ribbon and loop it, poke a pin through it, put hot glue on the end and poke into the styofoam ball. That will hold it in place. Then hot glue on the candy or popcorn. She usually makes ones with broken pieces of candycanes glued on too but ran out of time to make them this year. Have fun making ornaments with your kids this weekend!

Tonight I went to a friends house and she showed us how to make gingerbread houses. She gave us packets full of information with recipes, tips and instructions. It was wonderful! I was totally blown away by her talent. All of these beautiful house took lots of time and talent on her part. I so appreciate all the effort she put into this evening. She has a lot of country decor like I do throughout her house, but her front room is victorian and she has a tree in there that has pink and white ornaments. She is so much like me...we love the country stuff but also love the girly pink stuff. So fun! I left her home full of the Christmas spirit and ready to finish decorating my house. I have really been slacking so this was just the push I needed. Afterwards me and my friend Paula went to Wal-Mart so I could get some Styrofoam ball and gum drops to make those cute ornaments. How cute and simple are those. She has others with red hot and popcorn glued on...total cuteness. By boys will love making these. Let me just say that I totally LOVE that old window frame with the gingerbread snowflakes! All this cuteness is killing me! I should be sleeping, but I'm too excited to sleep....kind of like those kids who are waiting to go to Disneyland on the commercial.
I had so many random thoughts floating around in my head today that I wanted to share, but those thoughts have been taken over by the Christmas spirit. I'm going to go set up my nativity and maybe my village too. :o)

Those gingerbread houses are too cute!!! You have a very talented friend. Isn't it fun to visit friends during the holidays and see their "stuff"? That picture will make an adorabe page for your scrapbook.

I just love seeing how homes are decorated for the holidays. I even like driving around and looking at the outdoor Christmas lights. Your excitement got me rev'd up to keep decorating.

Wow ... the gingerbread houses and ornaments are incredible! It's so nice spending time with friends and getting ideas on top of that. The gum drop ornaments are sooo cute!! I'm sure your boys will have loads of fun making them. My neighbor Cyndi and I were trying to think of a "crafty" thing for our boys to do this Christmas ... I'm thinking that might be it!

Awwww I love the gingerbread train, that is so sweet. We made a gingerbread house one year and my sister and her friend hounded and hounded when can we eat it?? (I think they were 15 or so) So one day it was like ok eat it and they pigged out and that was that LOL. We are so slow in getting our stuff up here it is driving me crazy and giving me the grumps "sigh" need to fix that. Have a great day.

Love, love, love it all! I have every intention of making a gingerbread house with Anna Marie this weekend, except I'm going to cheat and buy a kit from the store.

Oh, and I'm answering your tag!

The gingerbread snowflakes are my favorite I think. I like almost anything snowflake. That is my theme for my January cards that I will be making next week. I also like the gingerbread train since I have a 4 year old boy who is completely into trains and any sort of vehicle. That would be up his alley. Maybe we will need to do that this year. That would be fun.
