Do you see my problem???

Oh my heck!!! Actually I have 4 little problems named Blue, Patrick, Princess Ellie, and Miss Sugar. Cody had just barely set up the tree and we don't even have the branches spread apart yet, but we do have 4 little fart head kitties that are playing in the tree. They wasted no time in scaling their way to the top and wrestling in the middle. The whole tree was shaking. No matter how many times we threw them out, they went right back in. My sister Coleen calls it the kitty tree house and doesn't think I have a chance in heck of it staying decorated or even staying up right for that matter. She suggested I get a squirt bottle and shoot them everytime they are in it. What do you think? Any suggestions would be helpful at this point....Seriously! I haven't even started decorating it yet and frankly I'm afraid to. I did however paint red walls for 10 freaking hours on Saturday and a few more hours today after church and the darn family room still isn't done. It has been a huge pain in the rear because it isn't covering well and I've had to use 3-4 coats on everything. I didn't use primer because the walls were already red. I had no idea how long it's going to take to finish this one room, but I think it's going to be the death of me. I hurt so bad and I've decided that painters don't make enough money. It's an absolutely horrible job!
Coleen came over tonight so that I could help her make a 20 page 8X8 album for the foster care child so they would have some idea of the home and family that they were being placed with. It turned out really cute and we were both happy with it. We finished up at 10:45 then we went through the drive thru at Taco Bell for what they call the 4th meal of the day...but it was really only my second, so I was starving. She is going to come back over Monday night to help me work on cards. I still have 96 to go...can you believe it??? So close but yet so far! It's almost 1:00 in the morning and I had more things to say, but my brain just shut off, so we'll see if any of that comes back to me after some much needed sleep. I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

How cute! But I do know what a pain those kitties can be.. Do try the spray bottle, it worked on mine. Good luck.

Try the water bottle, most of the time I can just point it at my cat and she runs.
Cats seriously are a PIA when it comes to a tree....and yours are young so I wish you luck, it's not going to be fun. One year, my cat was so destructive I could've killed her but she's still here :)
Good luck...squirt their little asses!

What a cute picture!!! Now that deserves a scrapbook page layout!!! I know, I know...it's a pain to have them in your tree but they look so darn cute! Wish I could offer a solution but I only have a doggie and he doesn't climb trees. Good luck!

Sounds like you've had a very busy weekend. Thank heavens Taco Bell stays open all night!

Years ago when I had a cat, we had that problem with the tree. I do think that it got knocked over a time or two. So not fun. I think we tried the water bottle too. Last year my 3 year old knocked over the tree. Oh well, what do you do about that?

I LOVE red rooms. I painted our front bedroom red. I know red isn't the best choice for a bedroom but most of our other rooms are one big open floor plan and this is where it seemed best to *fit*. I absolutely love that room. I've always liked painting, but it would get old if you have to do that many coats of it and are trying to get it all done in one day. Good luck with all of that and getting your cards done. Cardmaking is what I will be doing ALL this week.

I think the squirt bottle is a good idea. That's what we did when our cat took up residence in the baby's crib! Good luck, at least you can squirt your kitties, what am I going to do with my two year old son?

Hiya Jolene~
Although I don't have any cats; I woudl say that a squirt bottle is a pretty good idea!
Sounds like you had a great weekend!
Oh I wanted to ask you.. when you made your cards; you just bought cardstock right? What size did you cut them? Also ... where did you get envelopes?
have a great day!

I haven't put the tree up yet and I have a feeling we're going to have the same kittie problem - ours is 5 months old! I think I'll give the squirt bottle a try. Good luck with yours, at least I've only got one to worry about lol!!!

LOL! I don't mean to laugh but that photo is hysterical! I'm a bit nervous myself as Sox hasn't seen a tree yet either and at 8 months he weighs 10lbs so I'm thinking scaling the tree will bring it crashing down!

I highly recommend the squirt bottle. Jasper runs now when I even take it out so that's what I'm going to do with Sox!

Good luck finishing up those cards!

What a sweet picture! My first cat never seemed inyerested. : ) This one loves to lie under it but has not yet tried to climb it. Who knows? Maybe this year she will try it! ARGH!
Our dog almost knocked it down once chasing the cat...that was NOT funny!
Squirt bottles worl for some but our first just lapped at the water! I have heard about placing scents that they hate (ie citrusy things) near the tree but do not know if it works.
I hope we can see a picture of your red room when it is done! Reds or any dark colors are SO hard to get right but so worth it!! You will love the result! After you are rested up from the chore!

Have a good week Jolene!
Fondly,
Sue

Well, the squirt bottle works well...I hate to squirt the cat, but it's may be an easier solution than setting up a kitty-sized guillotine!Oh, the painting...when I did my really dark wall, I used an entire gallon of paint...and it's not even that big, and every once in a while, I see a spot where it could have been thicker...hey are you coming up for the courthouse lighting on the 2nd?

I am so dreading the tree thing, don't get me wrong I LOVE my trees but see I too have a catshe's 8mths old and this is her 1st Christmas. To make it even more intersting well lets just say my 17mth old DD is quite a "monkey" so I'm figuring these 2 might "tag team" us!

LOL! Good luck with all of those cats. They are very curious and playful. It should make for an entertaining holiday season.

Here kitty kitty kitty....
So cute!!! Let them have the tree lol
You will be the only one of the block with only lights and kitties on your tree.

The squirt bottle will probably work well, but we also used a citrus spray and dried onot range slices as ornaments when our cats were small. They really hate anything citrusy. We also used the citrus scent to stop them from scratching furniture and running on top of the table.

I know they can be a pain, but how cute at the same time.

Good luck!

sweet babies!!! your little monster looks EXACTLY like one of my mom's kitties!!

definatly get the water bottle out...we still use it on our boy (and we've had him for ten years now) and now he's so smart, all we have to do is pick up the bottle & shake it, and he stops whatever he was doing, or gets out of whatever he was in!!

my concern is that my goofball kitty will eat the tree (we always get a real one), then of course, puke it back up.

Oh my goodness ... he looks so cute in the tree. That is NOT what you want to hear is it? Maybe the squirt bottle thing will work ... will it work on a 21 month old too? LOL ... just kidding.

The painting thing sounds like a never ending job. I'm sure you will get the coverage you want and the room will turn out just lovely! Can't wait to see pictures.

The album Colleen and you made sounds so nice. What a sweet gift for the family and child.

I think a spray bottle would work.
Painting is the worse. I would rather stare at it and watch it dry then do the actual painting.

I don't know about keeping a cat out of the tree, but if you hear of anything to keep an 18 month out, I'd like to hear about it! Congrats on only having 96 cards to go!

Are you sick of making cards yet.... LOL

Is now a good time to tell you that our cats like the squirt bottle and taunt us? We used to have to wire the Christmas tree to the wall on two sides in order to keep it vertical.... sorry. LOL That is a PRICELESS photo! Love, Tem
