Sick

****EDITED 4:30 p.m.****Still have a queasy tummy and I forgot to tell you that my teeth on the top left side started hurting yesterday too. I braved going out today to the dentist to get it X-rayed and apparently I have a cavity that needs a root canal. Problem is that it's a molar...#15 to be exact and my dentist does not do root canals on molars so he referred me to an Endodontist. I don't have insurance and really can't afford to have this done...especially with the expense of this move. How on earth can I have a cavity that bad, yet feel no pain until yesterday? I really didn't have time for this stomach bug, let alone a root canal. What to do? what to do? For now I'm going to go make some chicken noodle soup. It will be good on my tummy and my mouth. I also have to think about what lesson I'm suppose to be learning from all these trials. Trying hard not to sound like a whiner.

I'm sick...really sick with some kind of stomach bug. Spent all day yesterday in bed doubled over with extreme stomach pain. Then the very icky puking started along with other gross things I don't want to talk about. I'm on a lovely cracker/toast/ice water diet, and very little of that. Just wanted you all to know so you wouldn't worry about why I'm not posting.
Back to bed...or the bathroom!

Jolene, if you keep throwing up, stomach ache... be sure to rule out appendics attack. I know that sounds weird... but my husbands friend felt the same and eventually he was sooo dehydrated that when his wife took him in... it was his appendics!! Strange but true!

I wonder if your tooth has anything to do with allllll that pop you drink????

That bug is going around in Colorado too. Now when one of my students says their stomach hurts, I send them away FAST! The good news is, you'll feel better tomorrow!

Do you still have your wisdom teeth?? I don't and so when they told me root canal on a molar it was my back tooth on that side.

I said pull it!!

$60.00 verses several hundred.

Great decision and easier on the mouth and the pocket book!!!

poor you! hope you feel better soon & find a cheaper answer for your tooth!

I hope you feel better soon. I am so sorry about the whole root canal thing. I have had 3 in the past 9 months and will probably need at least one more. Even with insurance it's expensive. You might look at a local dental school. A lot of times they will take you as a patient and have a student do the work and it's very reasonable price wise. When you do have the root canal I promise you it won't hurt. They numb your mouth up enough that you really don't feel a thing. I always gets the laughing gas which makes it so much more pleasant.

I am so sorry to hear that you are sick.. I hope that you will be feeling better soon. I know what you are going through with the tooth. I had to have mine pulled, did not have the money for RC 800.00 that's crazy...

I had my lower back molar pulled as well. I wasn't spending $900 on a tooth that no one would ever see. It's INSANE. I told my dentist that I needed a man with a MD to compliment my Ph.D. That's the ONLY way that I would be able to afford his (the dentist's prices).

My back molar killed me. It got infected, and my whole mouth was killing me. I had to take Vicodin before the extraction, because I was in hysterics. Picture it - the dentist telling me to go next door to CVS, get my vicodin, take one, and return to his office in an hour. I hadn't slept in nearly 24 hours.

And, I'm back in the office tomorrow to get a cavity filled.

I need to either win the lottery or marry a rich man.

I hope that you feel better soon!

Get well soon dear Jolene! Sorry you are sick on top of everything else. I've had that terrible stomach bug twice in the last four months and the only thing I have to offer is, drink lots of Gatorade. That stuff was the only thing I could drink and it tasted SOOOOO good.

Poor Jolene...how awful. I have had a bug like that and it is terrible. You make those men care for you and stay hydrated and rest! That is an order!!
Your poor tooth. Dental costs are out of control..all med care is. : (
One of the things I am grateful for through the military is our dental insurance.

Oh how I hope you can find something to help with this.

Just feel better...and know we are all praying for you and thinking about you.

Hugs and love,
Sue

Hugs, Jolene! When it rains, it pours it seems like. Hopefully soon things will swing in the other direction. Good luck deciding what to do with your tooth. Does the dentist want to barter for carpet cleaning services? The dentist I worked for in Mesa did lots of bartering. You might ask him.

Double yuck!
If it's a back molar, personally I'd just have it extracted. Why spend all that money

You know what, I think your entitled to whine when you feel like you must be feeling. I hope you get better soon and good luck with the tooth - I won't offer any advice on that one because I'm a ninny when it comes to having teeth out!!! Maybe the pain would settle once you feel better??? Don't suppose that solves the problem though =o(

Whine all you want! You definitely deserve it with all you have going on! It might even make you feel a smidge better! ;) Hugs!!! Feel better soon!

Oh, you poor thing Jolene! Nothing is worse than the flu, and nothing is worse than a tooth ache, so to have them together must be awful!! I will say some extra prayers for you and offer something up (usually food) I swear that will help!!! I vote for having the tooth pulled, it would be cheaper, no one would see it, and then you wouldn't have to deal with future issues with it. Take care hon! We are all rooting for you. Love, Amy =)

Hi Jolene,
Found your blog thru Amy M.'s.... sorry to hear about the bad tooth. Do you have a dental school/university nearby? They may be able to do the work at a reduced cost. Also, check with other dentists or endodontists who may do the work and take a 'sliding scale fee' based on your family income. Just a thought. Take good care ~ Gloria

Hope you are feeling better soon. How awful!! The root canal. Ugh! Thank goodness I just have to get my molar capped. That will happen in March.

I will mail Chad things in about a week. I will be out of town on business starting Saturday. Thanks for the address.

Take care,
Terri

Oh Jolene ... I feel for you lady. My entire family just went through the whole stomach virus thing. Believe me when I say Lysol, Clorox Wipes and hand sanitizer is your best friend right now.

So sorry to hear about the tooth. Do you have one of those walk in dentist facilities near you? Most times they offer the same exact services as a traditional dentist office, yet cost about 1/2 as much.
