New Years Resolutions

***Updated to add*** I just got home from the doctor. My chest got to feeling really heavy and crackly. It took me 2 1/2 hours to get ready to go. I'd shower, lay down, get dressed, lay down, dry my hair, lay down. You get the picture. I have no strength and I'm real achy. Turns out I have bronchitis. They gave me a breathing treatment, antibiotics and an inhaler so I can breathe better. Back to bed for me. It's a new year...I've got things to do...darn body wont let me...sheesh! Me and my honey
Freezing our tooshies off on top of South Mountain.
(using tripod and timer)
I love that man.
I've been sick in bed with a bad cough, sore throat, low grade fever, chills, the works. Did you know that giving birth to 5 children makes you lose control of your bladder when you cough, sneeze or laugh hard? Have to cross my legs tight to avoid embarrassing myself. Nice, huh?! One of the perks of motherhood. I decided to get up to share my goals with you, then I'm heading back upstairs to my nice warm bed. :o)
New Years Resolutions
I know some of you are saying to yourselves "not another goal obsessed list" I know there are lots of people who don't make resolutions because they are disappointed when they fail at them. I try to have a more positive attitude about them. In my mind how can we strive to make our lives better if we don't set goals for ourselves? So, of course I'm all about the goals. Here's this years list...
  • Spend more meaningful quality time with my family.
  • Continue to work on home organization projects.
  • Learn to teach with confidence...this is huge!
  • Do something scrapbook related at least twice a month.
  • Lose 30 pounds...according the the body fat % test I'm 29% fat and have grand total of 51.9 pounds of fat, but I will be happy to be rid of 30 of those 51.9. Oh my crud! How is that possible? What an eye opener that was. I will still eat what I like because I have the need to be happy, but I will drink more water, eat smaller portions, and exercise at least 4 times a week.
  • Be a better housekeeper
  • Complete all my personal progress goals in young women's. This is huge as well.
  • I will read the Book of Mormon.
  • I will teach my boys to cook and bake.
  • I will create a cookbook for each of them with pictures and easy instructions full of family favorite recipes to give to them next year for Christmas.
Happy New Year to all of you. I hope your celebrations are safe and happy ones. I always worry with so many drunks on the road, so I tend to stay home to ring in the new year.
Feel free to share some of your goals with me. :o)

Ask dr. about the "trans vaginal sling". Small procdure, but takes care of all the "leaks". Huge quality of life thing (sorry if TMI)
Your list is a lot like mine. Lots of wife and mom stuff as well as the "I'd like there to be less of me" stuff as well :0)

Jolene,
Hope you're feeling better soon. There is a bit of illness running through our house as well, but I have not gotten it, thank goodness. Love your goals and I'm with you, I think it's hard to improve and progress in life without setting a few goals.

Mine this year are to work on:
home organization
self-reliance/food and skill storage
education-self and kids
wellness-exercise more and eat/cook better meals
My main goal is: JUST DO IT!
I have always been really good at gathering info and thinking of things to do to make life better, but never actually putting any of it into practice. So that's what my main focus is...PRACTICE!

Wishing you a terrific 2008!

Happy 2008! May you be able to reach all your resolution goals.

I'm with you on the organization. I just can't seem to get it together.

When I was doing all my Xmas baking and recipes, Greg asked me to make sure that I write them all down for him for when he leaves home someday. I've never done a recipe scrapbook before so that is on my 2008 list to do as well. Maybe we can motivate each other.

Feel better soon.

So nice to hear that we all have the same germs even many miles away from one another. Bryan has had the same junk. Not much sleep for either one of us this last week. I laid in bed a couple of nights ago and listened to him snap, crackle, and COUGH!

I can't wait to click on your link for body fat %. I am (re)joining TOPS tomorrow night, I am eating my way to my first weigh in! I have been having HUGE back issues recently and a trivia note that all of your blog friends might find interesting, especially those that groan when they move because of back pain, is that every ONE extra pound of weight you carry on your body is actually TEN pounds of extra weight on your back. It is quite exciting to think that if I lose 10 real pounds, that is like "100" off of my back and when all is said and done, I will have lost "350" pounds.

Will you please email Chad's myspace to me and if you do a family cookbook, you should sell it...except to family members, of course!

First of all I want to say superb blog! I had a quick question in
which I'd like to ask if you don't mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear
your mind prior to writing. I have had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out.
I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to
15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure
out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints?
Cheers!
