Goodbye sweet boy!

Saying goodbye to Chad was so hard to do yesterday. Mark, Sandy and I met his group at the airport. As we walked through the airport my heart swelled up as we were getting his boarding pass, checking his bag, then walking to the security check point. When we arrived there we each gave him a hug. I held him so tight as I cried and told him I loved him. Then as he walked out of site Sandy and I were both sobbing messes. Mark, of course being the man, held it together. I've spent this whole day in emotional sadness curled up in my chair wallowing in self pity. I promise tomorrow will be better. It's just so hard for a mom to let go of her babies...no matter how old they are.

You are a brave sweet mama...of course it's hard! Take as long as you need to feel better, these things often come in waves. I think a little chocolate ice cream may be in order here!

I had a lump in my throat reading your blog today. You've been so strong to let him go and I'm sure you'll feel emotional for a while. Take care of yourself. Hugs.

Poor you.... hope you're feeling better today. My parents were the same way when I moved away to school... and I was only a 2 hour drive away. Thinking of you! *hug*

I feel your pain. 16 weeks Mommie....Start counting down.

And you can plan now for the graduation ceremony...doesn't Georgia border Tennesee?? (threw that in for ya Julie..:):) Oh and Kansas isn't that far off the route so lots to do in a few months.

Start baking them cookies so he will be the most popular soldier there....I can see his big smile now recieving a package like that.
Please do not forget to update us on his progress! What is he going to train for???

Awww, I had tears in my eyes reading this! I'm sorry you are sad! Remember that the time will pass fast and he'll be home soon! Just go shopping for baby stuff to keep you busy! ;)

FYI basic trainies aren't allowed to have sweets until they hit a certain week, some Drill SGT's are hard about that and don't allow them sweets the hole time. You might want to find out first before he gets "smoked" for it.

Jolene, I can't even imagine how difficult this was, and how painful. Just sending hugs. Love, Tember

I don't even feel like we really said goodbye to Chad at the dinner. As I left, it just felt like another family dinner. I regret that. I should have spent more time with him. He's gonna be a better man from this though. I'm happy for him.
