Postage due...

Let me start out by saying that I have a new love in my life. Meet Hershey Kisses Candy Cane. I love them sooo much...serious goodness in this bag! If I could just get a bunch of these for Christmas and I'd be happy! You must try them...pick me up a bag while your at it. :o)
I walked outside today to find a not so lovely post office box full of my Christmas cards that they returned to me, with a note saying not machine readable...13 cents postage due! You know what...I purposely didn't use clear envelopes to avoid this surcharge in an effort to save money. Apparently the brad is too bulky. So I go to the post office...do they have sympathy for me? NO! Do they sell 13 cent stamps? NO they do not. They do however sell 10 and 3 cent stamps so I spent well over an hour in the post office lobby sticking on hundreds of flippin' little stamps. Now they are officially on their way. I came home and immediately popped one of those delightful kisses in my mouth. It make things all better in my mind. Wendy challenged me to take a picture everyday in December and scrap it. I thought I had a small 8X8 album to do it with, but I don't so I'm using an even smaller 6X6 one. Not alot of room for any cute things with this size. I don't have to scrap them everyday, but I do have to take a picture everyday, which is no problem for me.
Thank you all for your sweet compliments. They made me feel so good!
I've gotta go get ready...it's date night! My favorite night of the week. :o)

Oh CARP! (as Rozzie would say)I am sorry about that...did they stamp each envelope and make it all ugly, it doesn't look like it...that would really miff me...although the 13cent thing is a little overwhleming. I am excited to try the new kisses...although, I am scared because you know how addicted to Junior Mints I am already...sigh.

Oh Jolene. That's horrible. At least they're all gone now.

Where did you go for your date?

LOL, Not trying to though, It's a good thing you don't live with a mail carrier like I do. He would have told me "I told you so, you should have had them checked before you mailed them". Well anyways, I'm glad that you got them back on their way.... T

Yeah!! Date night!! With little ones at home and not much in the budget, we don't get date night too often. Hopefully some day soon again! LOL

That is such bummer about the postage. Yuck!! But, hey, at least you had something for your first page of the picture-a-day challenge. LOL

I haven't seen the candy cane Kisses, though I really like the cherry cordial ones. Guess I'll have to scout out the candy cane ones now too!!

The kisses sound wonderful...hope they've made their way to Florida. I love peppermint!

After all that work making cards...I know it was a labor of love...I would have had a meltdown seeing that Post Office bin with all of them in it! Looks like you deserve the "Most Sane" award for keeping your cool. It does make a great scrapbook page. You'll have to share the rest of the pages you make.

Hope date night was fun!!! Hubby's and mine is tonight!

Leave it up to the Post Office to try to take all the excitement out of the holidays!! Glad to see that you rebounded with chocolate. That's my remedy every time. Going grocery shopping later today and now I will be looking everywhere for those kisses with the peppermint. Sounds yummy....hope you had a wonderful date night. My hubby and I are a little behind on ours this week. Love my family but also love spending couple time too. Especially during this crazy holiday time.

P.S. Don't worry about all the extra stamps on the outside, it's what is in the inside that counts!

I am going out in a little while and for sure I will searching for those kisses! I am sorry about your postal dilemma...glad you got it taken care of though. I like the suggestion about taking a picture a day and I think I am going to take that challenge too....I might even add it to my blog. Thanks for all the great ideas you have! Have fun tonight!

Yuck about the post office. I use brads and embellishments on almost every card I make. I have never had them sent back and sometimes they do feel bulky to me. I've had buttons and all kinds of things on them. That is too bad.

I am busy working on my Christmas cards. I am hoping to get them done next week which is hardly early as I would have liked but still in plenty of time before Christmas.

Hi Jolene, I am soo sorry that happened. Must have been really frustrating for you. I had that happen a few years back but not so many cards at that time. You have my curiousity peaked about those candy cane kisses. I have never seen them here in Canada. I'll be on a mission today for sure!

Hope the Christmas season is treating you well (other than the card fiasco!)

I got your card in the mail on Saturday. That was pretty fast considering you had to put more postage on Friday. It's a beautiful card. I love it! Thank you!
